Bruce Beasley was born in Los Angeles in 1939. He attended Dartmouth College and the University of California at Berkeley. He currently resides in the Bay Area. One of the nation’s foremost sculptors, in 1961 he was included the seminal exhibition “The Art of Assemblage” at the Museum of Modern Art in NY. The following year the Museum acquired one of Beasley’s sculptures making him the youngest artist ever to be included in their permanent collection. In 1963, Beasley won the purchase prize in the Paris Biennale, the world’s most prestigious international exhibition. His sculptures are in the permanent collection of thirty museums around the world. He has had over fifty solo exhibitions and been included in hundreds of group exhibitions. Beasley has done many monumental sculpture commissions in the United States and abroad. Most recently he had been commissioned to do monumental works for the Beijing Olympic Games and the World Expo in Shanghai. He is currently working on a large sculpture for the city of Palo Alto.
