A Canadian artist now residing in California, Luc Bernard first established himself in the Canadian art scene as an encaustic painter. The lush and textured paintings he created always wanted to push towards abstraction, which became more and more apparent over the years. For the last 12 years, Bernard's paintings have explored color and texture in oils and sumi ink. His paintings bring simplicity in context, richness in color and contrast. His works are like an ephemeral moment captured, on the cusp of the next observation, at once lyrical, and simplified in abstraction.
